Tax Effect
Permanents that impose an ongoing mana surcharge on opponents, making spells or attacks cost extra to resolve. Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Vryn Wingmare add {1} to every noncreature spell; Sphere of Resistance taxes all spells; Trinisphere forces every spell to cost at least three; Ghostly Prison makes creatures pay to attack. Grand Arbiter Augustin IV both lowers your costs and raises opponents', and still counts here for the tax it imposes. Distinct from Pillow Fort, which deters attacks through hard 'can't attack' walls and attacker caps; the two overlap on attack-tax permanents but tax_effect covers spell-casting surcharges broadly, not just combat deterrence.
