Redirect

Instants that intercept a spell or ability already on the stack and choose new targets for it, often pointing an opponent's kill spell or burn back at their own creatures or face. Deflecting Swat and Wild Ricochet let you pick new targets, while Bolt Bend, Redirect, and Misdirection change the target outright. The original spell still resolves, just aimed somewhere new. Distinct from Counterspell, which removes a spell from the stack entirely rather than letting it resolve at a new target, and from Casting Restriction, which prohibits spells from ever being cast. These all act on the stack but redirect cards uniquely keep the spell alive while flipping its aim.
