Land Destruction

Spells and effects that destroy lands to cut an opponent off from mana, ranging from single-target strikes like Stone Rain and Wasteland to mass land destruction like Armageddon and Ruination. Wasteland targets a nonbasic land; Ruination wipes every nonbasic; Armageddon levels all lands at once. Vindicate also belongs here when aimed at a land. Distinct from Board Wipe, which sweeps creatures and other permanents rather than the mana base, and from Bounce, which only returns lands to hand without destroying them. Where a card can hit lands and other permanents alike, it overlaps with Spot Removal.
