Becomes Monarch

Cards that make you the monarch, the political crown that draws you an extra card at your end step and passes to whoever deals you combat damage. Palace Jailer, Thorn of the Black Rose, and Skyline Despot grant it on a creature's entry; Court of Grace and Marchesa's Decree do it from an enchantment; Throne of the High City sacrifices a land for it. Distinct from Takes Initiative, which grants the separate initiative mechanic and starts Undercity venturing, and from Initiative Payoff, which rewards holding that crown rather than this one. Also separate from cards that merely benefit while you wear the monarch crown without granting it.
