Fast Mana

Non-land permanents — almost always artifacts — that yield a one-shot burst of mana by sacrificing themselves, rather than tapping repeatedly. The lotus family is the canonical set: Black Lotus and Jeweled Lotus add three mana of one color, Lotus Petal adds one of any color, Lion's Eye Diamond adds three at the cost of your hand. These accelerate a deck far above its land count for a single turn and are then gone. Distinct from ramp.mana_rock, which is a repeatable tap-for-mana artifact (Sol Ring, Gilded Lotus); from ramp.ritual, which is an instant or sorcery mana burst (Dark Ritual); and from ramp.treasure_generator, where the mana arrives through Treasure tokens that are sacrificed later. Also distinct from a generic sacrifice outlet such as Ashnod's Altar, which eats OTHER permanents for mana repeatedly instead of consuming itself once.
