Becomes Monarch

Cards that hand you the monarch designation, typically on enter-the-battlefield, so you draw an extra card at the end of your turn until an opponent deals combat damage to you and steals it back. Palace Jailer, Thorn of the Black Rose, and Queen Marchesa all crown you on entry; Court of Grace and Marchesa's Decree do so as enchantments; Throne of the High City does it from a land via an activated ability. Narrower than the broader monarch category in that this only covers cards that GRANT the crown; distinct from monarch.monarch_payoff, which scales effects while you already hold it, and from monarch.takes_initiative, which hands over the initiative and Undercity progression instead.
