Channel

Cards printed with the Channel keyword ability, which lets you discard the card from hand and pay a mana cost to produce an effect rather than playing the card normally. Most prominently the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty legendary lands such as Boseiju, Who Endures for noncreature destruction and Otawara, Soaring City for bounce, plus creatures like Greater Tanuki for land search and Colossal Skyturtle with multiple Channel abilities. The flexibility comes from being usable as a land or creature when drawn early and as a spell-like effect when drawn late. Narrower than modal.modal_spell, which covers bulleted choose-one menus on a single cast; Channel is a discrete keyword activation from hand, not a mode picked while casting.
