Empty-hand threshold effects, the Ravnica-era hellbent ability and its functional cousins. These cards gain a stronger mode or unlock an additional effect once your hand is empty, rewarding aggressive Rakdos-style draw-and-dump play. Infernal Tutor upgrades to any-card search at hellbent, and Nihilistic Glee turns life into draws when hellbent. Distinct from discard.discard_outlet, which provides the activated ability that empties your hand, and from discard.discard_payoff, which triggers each time a card is discarded rather than caring about the resulting hand size.
